Nordic Winner Show in Stockholm, Sweden

The show year usually ends to Helsinki, but this year was different, because for me it ended to my first show trip abroad. With our group of four people and four dogs we took off on Thursday.

The boat trip is a story itself, but I'll just pass it with the note that four pulis definitely draw attention wherever they go, and our journey from Helsinki to Stockholm was no exception. In Sweden we stayed at a nice hotel called Oden, with some great parks and restaurants just round the corner. On Friday Sari and her puli Dani (N. Dynamiitti Dani) also joined us.

Saturday was the show day. The fair centre was spacious and well lit, so it was a shame that the floor was very slippery. I showed Masi, which meant some heavy lifting, but I did manage to stay on my feet this time. Masi wasn't at all comfortable moving on that slippery floor. When showing his movements around the ring, he preferred to take it slow and keep his head down, so naturally the judge didn't get to see the best of him. Fortunately there was a long carpet in front of the judge's desk, and going back and forth Masi regained his confidence for a short moment and moved quite nicely. He got 1st price and was placed 2nd in his class out of three open class males, but didn't get a CK.

Then the rest of our gang:

In junior females Luna's "little" Blackie (Wailer's Black Rose) got 1/3, as well as Riesa (N. Coco-Kaneli) in open class. Heidi's Kicsi got 1st price too. In intermediate males Dani was 1/1.

Best of Breed was Vajáni Derce and BOS was Västjö Rasta Rossza. Congratulations on your success!

Huge thanks to Heidi, Luna, Salla and the dogs for a great trip!

Finnish Winner 2007 show in Helsinki Fair Centre

I had an opportunity to show some of Mervi's (Super Play's miniature schnauzers) dogs once again, this time at the show in Finland. The day started with black miniature schnauzers, and I showed a two-year-old little girl called Mira (Bouvbear's Just Try And Compare). Mira got VG this time, but I was so happy with the way she performed - like a real pro.

After that it was time for the pepper&salts. In the Best Male competition I had to step in and show Bono (S. Ocean Wind), who wasn't too keen on his fellow competitors but otherwise showed quite nicely, this time without a placement. After that I showed young Iitu (S. Queen Charlotta), an old acquaintance from the Specialty show last summer, and she was a real pleasure to work with. She ended up winning her class with excellent. I also showed her in the breeder's group, which was BOB. The group wasn't placed in the final ring, but Iitu showed really well and didn't mind the music or anything else going on in the ring.

Specialty Show for Hungarian Herding Dogs

The annual specialty show was held in Tampere. For me it was the first show in several months, and despite the bad weather it was great fun seeing all the familiar faces and meeting all the beautiful pulis again. My job was to show Masi (Loncsosi-Bátor Maszkos) and lady Afro, but before that it was the puppies' turn to conquer the ring. Little Mauri (Szilasligeti Maros) was chosen BOB-puppy, and in the BIS-finals he ended up BIS-2 -puppy!

Masi was shown in the open class, and today his result was only Very Good and 2nd place in the class. 1st in the class was N. Carlo Casanova, also with VG.

In the big champion class of nine bitches Afro got Excellent and was placed 3rd. Otherwise her critique was very nice, but she was too big for the judge.

Specialty Show for Schnauzers and Pinschers

This day was all about dogs. I got up from bed at 6 and got home at 8pm, even though the show was held in Klaukkala, not far from where I live. The day started with black miniature schnauzers, and Mervi's dogs did just great: Bouvbear's Lift Me "Nero" was BOB-junior with CC and Gloris Harry Potter "Vili" was BOS.
In pepper&salt miniature schnauzers I got in the ring too. Gandi's daughter Tuikku (S. Spica), 6 months, won her class but didn't get a HP this time. Gandi (S. Gandalf) got only VG, but what made us really happy was the way he performed in the ring - with nice drive and pride. In junior females I showed S. Queen Charlotta "Iitu", who also got VG (and was 4th in her class) but showed just beautifully for a dog who has never been really taught how to do it.
Super Play's breeder's group won BOB, and Jaki's (Alert Charm Yudgin) progeny group was BIS-3!
The real stars of the day were two young boys: S. Ricardo and S. Ocean Wind "Bono". Ricardo was BIS-puppy and Bono was BIS-4 junior.

Congratulations to Mervi and all the dog owners, and thank you all for a great show day!

Aptus Show Helsinki

On Saturday I was happily reunited with Afro. 8 pulis (7 black and mazkos fakos and 1 white) were entered, and only two got Excellent. Those two were Afro, who eventually won also BOB with CACIB, and young Dani (N. Dynamiitti Dani), who was BOS with his 3rd CC (out of four shows!) and also BOB-junior. The Narukeräs weren't placed in the group ring, but what great fun it was..!

On Sunday I headed back, this time to the schnauzer ring. I showed an old acquaintance, Super Play's Gandalf "Gandi". He got Excellent, won the Open Class and went 4th Best male. The last CC is still missing from his Finnish Champion title, but the hunt goes on..!
In Best bitch competition I showed Hulda (S. Hooligan Hulda) who was placed 4th as well.
The real jackpot went to young Bono (S. Ocean Wind), 11 months. He was Best male with CC, then BOB and finally BIG-2! His mother Rica (S. Frederica) got CACIB and Super Play's breeder's group was BOB.

Congratulations!

Lahti Int Show

Once again I was invited to join the Super Play's team, this time at the international show held in Lahti. I showed two siblings, male "Remu" (S. Hurricane Harry), who won the intermediate class with Excellent and got a res-CC, and female "Hulda" (S. Hooligan Hulda), who was 2nd in her class, also with Excellent. With Hulda I also took part in the Super Play's breeder's group, which won Best of Breed.

Thank you all for a nice show day, and special thanks to the two little sweeties, Remu and Hulda, I got the honour to be in the ring with :) You really made my day!

Happy Birthday Dear Ria!

Tampere Int Show

We travelled to Tampere with car full of people and pulis. I was supposed to spend the day as a "tourist", but I ended up in the ring with "Masi" (Loncsosi-Bátor Maszkos), an Intermediate Class male. This was our first show together, but everything went fine (I even got him on the table without breaking my back or dropping him... He is a bit heavier than the females or the miniature schnauzers, the ones I usually show ;)) Masi won his class and was placed 2nd in the Best Male competition with CC and res-CACIB, beaten only by the handsome champion male Rosenhjorth's Black Ivory.

N. Coco-Kaneli "Riesa" was 3rd best bitch, her brother N. Carlo Casanova was 4th best male and Ludas Matyi Kontyos, Kicsi, got VG. N. Dynamiitti Dani from the most recent Narukerän litter was BOB-puppy.

Thank you all for such a nice day!

Studying for the final exams has taken it's toll... I'm glad
they don't judge the handler's colour as long as the
dog looks nice ;)

My schooldays are now officially over, and from the 3rd to the 12th of April I will stay in London (stay tuned for news and photos!). After that it's time for more summer job -hunting and trying to figure out what to study next.

Yesterday I received very sad news: Cobra, the wonderful greyhound gentleman, had passed away. Knowing Cobra was a great honour, and for that I want to thank you, Tuua. I'm so sorry for your loss.

We are back!

It took me some time, but we now have a new, working address. I've been busy studying for my Matriculation Exams and haven't been able to do any updates until now. Only some three weeks left, then school is officially done, and I will be able to update the site more often. I hope you notice our new address (the old one isn't working at all anymore) and also some of you who still have our ancient (http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/nettah) address on your link pages: please, update your links :)

Ronja and Ria have had a quiet winter, enjoying long walks on the frozen sea whenever possible. Ria's daughter Laika (soon 6 months old, how did that happen?) has visited us a couple of times, and she's always glad to do so. It has been great to see her grow from a tiny little guinea pig to a real schnauzer. Ria seems to think that the only way to communicate with one's offsprings is to yell at them, but after she's made herself clear they play together, just like any mother and daughter.

Top Dog Show Turku

I had the pleasure to be a part of the Super Play's team (pepper&salt Miniature Schnauzers) at Turku Int Show. I showed Osku (Fin Ch Super Play's Evening Song), who got Excellent, was placed 2nd in the Champion class and finally got 3rd place in the Best Male-competition, and Dora (Super Play's Feodora), with whom I also took part in the breeder's group. Dora got Excellent as well, and was placed 3rd in her class. Super Play's breeder's group got HP and went BOB. In the BIS-ring we didn't get placed, but it was a great experience nevertheless.

Thank you Mervi for letting me be a part of the group, and thanks to Lotta&co for making it such a nice day!
